Without the ongoing change of our day to day lives, we would be stuck stagnant. Life is constantly flowing like water. As water flows it changes, it morphs, it takes different shapes. Our bodies are constantly transforming, as well as our minds and our souls.

” ‘Will she be the same?’

The old woman guffawed, as if I had said the funniest thing in the universe. ‘Nothing’s ever the same’, she said. ‘Be it a second later or a hundred years. It’s always churning and roiling. And people change as much as oceans’ ”

-The Ocean at the End of the Lane, a novel by Neil Gaiman

You could take the view that change is evil, something that brings discomfort and dissatisfaction. Or you could realize that without change we would never see the tree’s leaves change beautiful colors in the fall, we would never get to grow old with our loved ones, or watch a flower bouquet bloom.

We can realize that the only constant in our life IS change. We can embrace the absolute in that instead of resisting or allowing it to bring us anxiety.
